A plate heat exchanger is a heat exchanger that is used to transfer heat from one fluid to another.
This heat transfer takes places through a sectional division. A plate heat exchanger is constructed of plates, with hollow space between them. The space forms ducts in which the two fluids are allowed to flow, exchanging heat through the plates. The number of plates used in a plate heat exchanger depends on its heat exchange capacity (kW). The higher the number of plates used, the higher the capacity.
This type of heat exchanger is primarily used for liquid to liquid heat exchange, but can also be used for liquid to gas heat exchange.
